The International Conference on Software Reuse
raises issues that are
relevant to today's software development activities and are often the
difference between project success and failure.
-
Are Java components beginning to decline because of platform
incompatibilities or are they really the next big thing as the
hype suggests? Where does web componentry fit into my applications
architecture?
-
Can I get the functionality and security I need with DCOM
components or should I choose another architecture? Should I build
my application components on Windows or Linux?
-
How much payoff can I expect with componentry? Will it
shorten my time to market? And by how much? Where will componentry
help me and where will it hurt me?
-
Does my application domain lend itself to program generation?
What are the upfront costs and risks? What is a "domain" anyway?
-
What are the future visions for software components and
architectures? How do domain-specific languages and software
generation fit in, if at all? Why do leading researchers consider
these ideas and technologies important, and why is it reasonable
to believe they will someday replace today's technologies?
-
What is the relationship between generative programming,
aspect-oriented programming, step-wise refinement, and
architectures? Why should anyone be interested?
-
Are software product lines really extending existing reuse
approaches? If so, how?
We invite you to participate in the seventh meeting of the premier international conference on software reuse to learn answers to these and other questions. Come to learn about other's experiences or tell us about yours. We are very interested in hearing about real world reuse practice and experiences - when approaches worked well and when they did not. We are interested in the issues affecting software development, in general and reuse-based development, in particular. We are interested in the future as seen both by reuse experts and by application developers. If you don't want to sort through the hype yourself, whether research or practice, we invite you to come to the Seventh ICSR in Austin, Texas April 15th through the 19th, 2002. The conference hotel is the
Austin Marriott at the Capitol
, 701 E. 11th Street (phone: 512-478-1111).
If you have results or experience that would be valuable to others or issues that you would like to raise, there are several ways to contribute: by submitting a paper, a tutorial proposal, a poster session, or a demo proposal. We are also planning a vendors fair and we will have workshops on reuse related topics.
